frequently asked questions

Why would I come to Santamaria Therapy?

The Intensive Therapy Services at Santamaria Therapy are designed to provide more support and engagement than the common weekly therapy session. Additionally, they offer the diversity of a skilled multidisciplinary team of therapists that can offer various modalities to create a more holistic therapeutic approach. Sometimes, once, or twice per week therapy is not enough for the challenges of daily life and difficult personal issues. However, higher levels of care such as inpatient or intensive outpatient treatment programs might be more than what is indicated. Our Intensive Therapy Services fill the gap between these levels of care to provide another option that works for you.

Our services are a perfect fit for the following situations:

  • You have current life or personal challenges that are causing enough distress or concern that you temporarily need more than once per week therapy to be effectively supported.
  • You have already participated in a higher level of care and now looking for an aftercare option that is much more flexible and complimentary to your transition back to daily life.
  • You know you need more support but are not yet sure if a higher level of care is necessary. If clinically appropriate, our Intensive Therapy Services might be a good start as you and your team determine the best options on the continuum of care.
  • You want to work with highly experienced clinicians who have created and operated successful residential and intensive outpatient programs for mental health, trauma, and substance abuse.

At Santamaria Therapy, we firmly believe in the significance of finding the perfect therapeutic fit for each person.

What Sets Santamaria Therapy Apart?

Santamaria Therapy is distinguished by a unique and innovative approach, one that combines personalization, a deliberately limited client base, and an unwavering dedication to addressing the often-overlooked gaps in traditional treatment services. We are not merely therapists; we function as dedicated directors and coordinators of care. This means that when you enter treatment with us, you are supported by a holistic and comprehensive system of care. Our extensive expertise in residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient settings equips us with the knowledge and experience to bridge the divide between conventional treatment and the highly specialized support we offer.

What should I expect from my initial assessment with Santamaria Therapy?

Your initial assessment with us is designed to be a welcoming and comprehensive conversation where we get to know you, your needs, and your goals for therapy. We’ll explore your specific situation, discuss treatment options, and together, we’ll determine the best course of action to support your path towards healing.

Can I contact my therapists outside of scheduled sessions?

Absolutely. We understand that growth and change do not always fit neatly into scheduled sessions. You are welcome to reach out to your therapists for out-of-session check-ins within our assigned hours. Your well-being is our priority, and we are here to provide support when you need it most.

How long is each therapy session, and how often do they occur?

Our therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in length, and we recommend four sessions per week. These sessions are thoughtfully distributed between our therapists, Ray and Stacey, to provide you with a well-rounded therapeutic experience.

Is Santamaria Therapy covered by insurance?

No, Santamaria Therapy does not accept insurance nor engage in single-case agreements or negotiated rates with insurance companies. We have chosen to maintain our independence to prioritize the quality and personalization of your care.  “Superbills” may be provided upon request for clients to submit for reimbursement on their own behalf.

Can I engage Santamaria Therapy remotely or must I visit your physical location?

We understand the importance of flexibility in today’s world. While our physical location is in West Los Angeles, we offer the option for remote therapy sessions to accommodate your needs and circumstances. We find that many clients desire a “hybrid” approach consisting of in person and virtual sessions.

How does Santamaria Therapy ensure the privacy and confidentiality of my sessions?

Rest assured, Santamaria Therapy is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of privacy and confidentiality. We adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines to safeguard your personal information and the content of your therapy sessions.

What can I expect from the Santamaria Therapy experience beyond therapy sessions?

Our commitment to your well-being extends beyond the therapy room. We collaborate with referral sources, outside providers, and appropriate family members when necessary, ensuring you have a comprehensive support network.

How does Santamaria Therapy support clients during challenging times or crises?

While we are not a crisis management service, we are here to hold your hand through challenging moments. If required, we will assist you in finding higher levels of care and suitable resources to navigate difficult situations effectively. Your well-being is paramount to us.
